Mama Flo

Well this past weekend we took a little road trip. We went back home for Mama Flo's 89th SURPRISE birthday party. And yes she was surprised. Didn't have a clue. She told Melissa she wonders what her big one next year will be like. And says, she thinks she would like to live until she is 90. I hope she does because it will be one BIG party.
She enjoyed the food and within 5-10 minutes of eating she was ready for her cake. Can't blame her that is the BEST part of a party. If you don't like bakery cake something is wrong with you.
The Brant Fontenot family prefers more icing to cake. A piece that sends you into a diabetic coma. Now that is a good piece of bday cake.
It was nice party and weekend. We all got to see and visit with family.
The boys were a little out of sorts, but that was a given.
We all had a good time.

Pals

Ryan and Matthew have different views when it comes to Arthur. Although Ryan likes to tease and torment Arthur, he especially loves to hang out with him. He love for Arthur to sit next to him. He loves to sit and pet him. He gives this dog more love and attention than I think me and Brant have time to. I can see the bond that these 2 will have as they grow together.
You can often find Arthur laying in Ryan's room on his rug or under his bed.
Now Matthew on the other hand does not really like the dog. He freaks out if Arthur gets too close. And sure would not like it if Arthur wanted under his bed. And OMG forget about jumping up on it! Just the difference in personalities.
Here is a cute picture of the "pals"

3 year pictures

It finally came........time for those 3 year pictures. We decided this year to go back to Marquette for the boys' pictures. She took their 1 year pics. Simple Treasures Photography is her business. And let me tell you she is AWESOME!
She had said she wanted to do these pictures outdoors, so what was suppose to be a sunny day ends up being a windy, cool(60 degrees)and overcast day. We meet her at a Nature Center with ponds, ducks, piers, playground, bridge......oh wait did I mention a playground. That was our first mistake. Total distraction!
Marquette shows up and we head to the bridge. It started out as a good session, but soon ends when Mr. Ryan goes nuts because she wants them to hug. That did it! From then on my usual social butterfly is not cooperating and giving Marquette his mean face. Little stinker.
There was nothing I could do to change his mood. Oh sure I had Whoppers Robin Eggs, Juice Boxes(these are a treat to the boys), one of Mommy's Fiber One bars and lots of other stuff. Nothing was going to change his mind. He was done and ready to go to that playground.
Marquette was SO patient and just kept on taking pictures. She did manage to get some good shots and Ryan did start to come around. For 2 three year olds(close enough)they were pretty darn good.
When taking pictures with kids you go with what ever happens. She was soon finish and we were off to the playground. Next year I think I will do in studio.
Check out her BLOG with some of the pictures.

March Snow

Well it was a cold(36 degrees)day here. We had rain, sleet and snow. Why just days ago it was a lovely spring like day. My allergies are going wacko! They say we are likely to get anywhere from 2-6 inches of snow by tomorrow. We got 4 inches today. On the local TV stations it is a full blown panic mode. With continuous coverage of all areas of the DFW areas. They are calling it a SNOW STORM!
Well guess what for North Texas it is a SNOW STORM. We woke the boys up from their afternoon nap because we just couldn't let them miss this. They were SO excited and ready to play in the snow. Everyone got all bundled up and off we go. The snow was coming down pretty good. Just like rain would, but it was flakes. Matthew LOVED it! Ryan HATED it!
After about 15-20 minutes Ryan had enough and was ready to go in. No big deal to me I was done myself. So we came in and enjoyed the view. Now Matthew on the other hand wanted to stay out much longer. He and Brant played outside for a L O N G time.
That little boy was so red faced and wet! He had so much fun.
And look who else had a FUN time! Daddy! Click on the picture to get a better view of his face. FUNNY Daddy!

Big boys

Recently we separated the boys into their own bedrooms with BIG boy beds. We just knew it would be awful. Much to our surprise this switch and big boy beds is GREAT!
Not once have they got up after we put them down for the night........I am still waiting. Of course I have to go in each room several times before they finally fall asleep.
Mornings are really funny. Matthew waits to see daylight(I have told him this because otherwise he would be up before me)and comes out of his room on his own. Ryan still will not get up by himself. He sleeps much longer than Matthew. So usually Matthew wakes him up or Ryan starts calling me or Matthew.
They love their rooms and take turns all day playing back and forth.
The picture is of them sitting on Ryan's bed.

My heart is breaking

We have so much to be thankful for. We have very healthy children. Other parents are not always so blessed. For whatever reason, sometimes God decides He needs our children with Him in heaven. Don't let a day go by that you do not hug and kiss your child. Don't let a day go by that you do not tell them how much you love them. And make sure they know how proud you are of them..........make sure they feel loved no matter what.
Please read if you have time........and prepare yourself it is heart breaking.

I'm not done....

I forgot to tell you I am not done with my blog page. It is still a work in progress so bare with me. I think this is going to be FUN!!!

Welcome

Hi all.......I have thought about this for a while, but wasn't sure if I could figure out how to do it. Well I DID IT!! First of all I want to welcome you to our family blog. You see I titled it "One day at a time......" well that is just what we do. Take it one day at a time. We are no different than any other family with kids. Some days are down right ridiculous and others are a breath of fresh air. We(I)wanted to be able to share SO many things with you. I usually am so busy or forget to tell you all the funny, sad, predictable, etc. things that happen with the boys.
They will be 3 in a little over a month. If you have not heard 3 is the new 2........so I am trying to prepare myself mentally for what is to come. God help us.
I invite you to check in often to read the latest about our family. It will not just be about Ryan and Matthew. I will make sure to keep you informed about Brant and myself.
I look forward to sharing our life with our close friends and family.
You are welcome to leave a comment if you like.
