Gumbo?!

Yes the little Fontenot boys are now eating GUMBO! Brant has been making it forever and since they were young enough to eat(table food) we have offered it to them.
Over the weekend Brant made his, oh so rich, chicken and sausage gumbo. It was dinner time and I had made the boys a plate of "kid" food. I then sat down at the table with my bowl of gumbo.
Matthew ask for a bowl. Reluctantly I made him a small bowl. He LOVED it! Ryan then decides he wants to try it. He tasted this delightfully warm soup-like dish and also wanted some.
After Matthew had his 3 bowls and Ryan his 2, I was finally able to finish my 1 bowl.
They both like somewhat spicy foods and now the gumbo! Maybe they have a little bit of Cajun in them after all. Regardless it sure made us happy that they LOVED Daddy's gumbo.
AYEEEEE.....Les bons temps a' la Maison de Fontenot!

Family Bible studies

For the new year we have started a family bible study. Not only to try to read the bible in a year, but also in preparation for the boys to sit in church. Come April when they turn 4 they can no longer stay in the "nursery" area. They will be BIG boys and go to BIG church with Mommy and Daddy. We have already started it and it is going well.
Anyway back to our family bible study. It is only 15 minutes long and for the boys that is way too long.
What typical 3 1/2 year old BOY would really be happy about sitting still and quiet for 15 minutes?
Not Ryan. And certainly not Matthew! **side-note**Ryan listens more than Matthew
Morning and evening when we tell them it is time for our bible study you can hear the sighs.
And of course they are eager to come up with excuses to put it off.
Yesterday morning while Brant was reading from the bible, Ryan keeps whispering, "I just don't get this!" Later I asked him what do you mean? He replies, "I just don't get this Jesus stuff!" We laughed and assured him he will one day.
This is my favorite.........After Brant reads he says a prayer. When he is done instead of saying amen, Matthew says, "The End."
Yes, he is happy it is the end and No, Ryan does not get it right now, BUT we both know they will get it one day and they will grow up knowing Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Amen.....the end.

Dinner at the Fontenot home

How much easier can it get?!
Last night for dinner, which BTW was standing at the island, was absolutely delightful.
Not only because it was easy, but mostly because our boys just EAT GOOD!
******Must have been all that time while I was on bed rest and the only decent thing to eat in the hospital was fresh fruits and veggies.*****
Oh right back to dinner last night...........
Raw vegetables: carrots, celery, broccoli, bell pepper and snow peas.
And yes with Ranch dressing. And no this is not all they ate. After the veggie tray they each had a cheese fold-over. And then after that they had homemade chocolate-chunk cookies and soft peppermints.
YUMMY and easy for Mommy.
I said they eat good.......not totally healthy.
