Reverese Tie Dye

Do you have a favorite tshirt or tank top?  Nothing fancy just something you feel comfortable in and love to wear.

Well I do......actually a few.  Last week after washing one of my favorite tank tops and taking it out of the dryer, I discovered it had spots on the front.  Figures!  It never happens to that old nasty tshirt you don't wear very often.

I was bummed!  It is a dark color so I knew I couldn't do the regular tie dye, but knew I had bleach. I wasn't sure if it would work, but am happy with the results.

First I folded the shirt across like a fan.  And then used rubber bands to hold it together and to achieve the tie dye look.

I then poured two cups of bleach and about four cups of water in my white sink(it needed to be cleaned with bleach anyway)and stirred it together.  The water started turning a pinkish-purple color, but the fabric just didn't look like it was changing.  BUT it was!

Here is the reverse tie dye tank using bleach.

I love to tie dye shirts.  They are fun and groovy. I think I am just a granola, hippy chick at heart without all the drugs and VW van.  Although I always wanted that yellow VW van with a smiley face and "God loves you" painted on it.

Anyway back to tie dye. It is fun, easy and cost very little.  And in my case this reverse tie dye shirt cost me nothing!  I had everything right here at home.

So go find a stained shirt or a shirt that needs a new life and do a reverse tie dye today.  This tank is now my go to tank for the pool/lake.

Have a great Monday!  We are off to the airplane museum and lunch out.......day 2 of our "staycation".
