Watermark Tee-Eucharisteo

From time to time my inner hippie comes out.  And when it does I create yet another tie dye shirt .  And then another.  I am thinking about a new one right now, but first I had to try this watermark tee.

I have been wanting to make it for a month now and Saturday finally got around to it.  It came out with a few tie dye looking marks as well as the watermarked word.  My only suggestion is to try on the shirt and mark where you want your watermark (word/art) to be.  Across my bust was not where I intended the watermark to go, but it is what it is.
When I am doing a tie dye shirt or something like this I always use an old shirt.  I never know when something is not going to turn out liked I had hoped.  So I suggest using that old favorite tee or tank.  You know the one with stains on it that you still love to wear??

Besides the tshirt you'll also need dye and Elmer's Blue Gel Glue.  The glue was not easy for me to find and I ended having to go to Hobby Lobby.

With my wet tshirt I started adding my word. I used a piece of paper to make sure I was writing in a straight line.  You could add a saying, a picture or whatever floats your boat. The glue will have to dry completely before you can move on to dying.  Mine took forever!  I got tired of waiting and left it overnight to dry.

After my tee was completely dry it was time to dye the shirt.  Add dye to tub or stainless steel sink with cold water.  Let soak to desired color.  I think mine soaked for about 20 minutes.  Give it a stir every once in a while. The longer you let it soak the darker the color.  I wish now I had let mine soak longer, but patience is not my virtue.

I used Tulip dye. And the color is turquoise...of course.

The detailed tutorial (link below) said to allow shirt to dry completely after being dyed to set the dye.  I left mine to dry for about 15 minutes is all.  Again couldn't wait! I then let it soak in soapy water for just a few minutes and then rinsed.  And rinsed some more.  Then off to the washer and dryer.  BE CAREFUL not to wash with anything else when you have dyed fabric.  I wash whatever I have dyed with old towels the first few times of washing.

So what do you think?  This was so much FUN and super easy to do.
I am ready to make another one!
Maybe a swimsuit cover-up........a big peace sign for those inner hippie days on the beach.

Eucharisteo-a Greek word meaning thanksgiving, to be thankful envelopes the Greek root word charis meaning grace, and the derivative chara which is Greek for joy.

Tasha, I tried something similar once and it was a total fail! I'm pinning yours and giving it another go because yours turned out so beautifully! Love the color and the saying! Thanks for the inspiration girl!
