Persevere

We are on Lesson 6 this week.  I can't believe we have been homeschooling for 6 weeks now. Plus 2 weeks for the introductory. I am still enjoying it!
This week we are finally getting to some meat.  The reading part is kicking in and I am so excited for the boys.  On to lesson 6........we are learning this week about the letter T and turtle.  Wonderful message and FUN crafts!  We visited the library on Monday to pick up our books for this week's lesson.  And brought out all the turtles in the house.  They are our class visitors this week.
And these cute little guys are the turtles craft we did on Tuesday.  Aren't they GREAT!  I do wish I could say I came up with the idea, but it is not so.
Here is the link we followed for the turtle craft.  Super easy and I'll bet you have everything at home.

The only thing we were missing were the little eyes, but the boys decided they would just color some. I am loving the message in the lesson.
"I don't quit; I persevere."
You know The Hare and the Tortoise fable?  Which we will be reading later this week.
We are learning that God has given us important things to do.  And even when they are hard and it takes a long time, He wants us to keep doing them.  You know like when your mom or dad ask you to clean your room and it is a TOTAL mess.  And you have no idea where to start(Matthew's exact words).
God says, "Obey your parents."  So we must keep working and not quit.  We must persevere!

I had to keep telling myself this yesterday morning when I wanted to just be lazy.  I wanted to stay in my cozy black and white flannel leopard pjs and Christmas socks. I didn't want to get dressed and play house.  But guess what I had to persevere.  So I got dressed, we had school, folded laundry, put more on to wash and so on and so forth.  It was exhausting work(wink-wink), but someone had to do it.

I am so glad the boys have a good example of a real working man.  That would be their Daddy.
Now this man is a true example of perseverance. He is such a hard worker.  Never gives up and for some reason never seems defeated.  He may get a little tired, but he pushes himself to get the job done. Take for instance yesterday afternoon.  He worked early in the day and came home to spend at least 3 or more hours working on chopping wood.  Wood we will use this winter for the fireplace.  He was working for our family. And thanks to him we have one nice stack to get us started. And more to chop!
All the while the boys were right along side him.  Watching their Daddy split and chop wood. And of course playing on the stumps.

At one point Ryan says, "Don't give up Daddy.....PERSEVERE!"
And he did.

I can picture Ryan saying that. Gave me a smile! Wow! Brant is a man's man! I wish I lived at your house. Looks like a great time!

what a beautiful example your husband is to them. I love the message in your schooling you are teaching them. Are you using a curriculum?
