Aren't they beautiful!!!! These pictures do not do the color justice at all!
You may remember a few weeks ago I was going crazy about the new season of Downton Abbey starting. If you missed that you can read about it here and here .
We had a big party(just a small family tea party)in honor of the new season starting. And that was enough to have me wanting our own tea set!!!
So yesterday we started looking. I wanted a teapot and sugar and creamer to match. And then start adding all different types tea cup and saucer sets.
As we looked around the antique store(big warehouse with lots of dealers)I noticed I never saw a matching tea pot with a sugar and creamer. I saw plenty of amazing sugar and creamer sets that I wanted so badly, but no matching tea pot.
So then that got us thinking to go with a silver tea pot.
I would like to do a silver tea pot(we saw plenty of these)and then pick a matching china sugar and creamer set. Brant would like to have the silver for all...tea pot, sugar and creamer. We'll see who wins later.
And I really do not want to buy something new!
I want used.
I want vintage.
I would love to have something with a rich fascinating history! One I know all about.
But if I can't, I'll buy something used and make up my own little fantasy about it all. BTW I am kinda kidding......kinda!
Anyway I could not bare to leave the store without a purchase. We had walked around for about an hour. And the boys were with us. Two almost 7 year old boys shopping in an antique mall. They were perfect. I think it made the workers a little nervous, but they soon found out they are not wild!
I went in knowing I would buy one item. And not spend over $25. I am just way too frugal to go and purchase everything all at one time. Plus buying one or two pieces at a time is more fun! You get to experience that excitement for weeks if not months!!! Frugal is FUN!!!!
Anyway, so we had examined the entire place and the boys at this point were getting a little restless. I knew some places I had seen some tea cups and saucers I loved. So I headed back, got my sweetheart's opinion and I purchased our first tea cup and saucer set!!!!!!
I am so happy to have found this dainty little cup and saucer.
The pale blue is quite lovely.
Around the cup are these little pink flowers with gold and flat silver leaves.
It is Sutherland Bone China and was made in England between 1936-1941. So there is some history in the little tea cup and saucer!!!! With an age between 71-76 years old I am giddy to think of the stories this little cup could tell!!!!!
Oh how I wish she could talk!!!!
Well they are ours now to have tea parties and make new memories. I'll keep looking for more sets and one day very soon we'll have another real tea party.

So pretty! Glad that you got your collection started...By the way, we all love going to antique stores, that is how we have gotten a lot of our tea cups and teapots.
