FUN Weekend-Birthday Party and Chocolate Sheet Cake

Happy Friday!!!!  Who is ready for the weekend?  I know we are although it has felt like the weekend since yesterday. If you missed it yesterday was Ryan and Matthew's birthday.  I now have EIGHT year old twin boys!!!!  So needless to say we have been in full party mode since yesterday morning.  And will be through Saturday!

Yesterday my eight year old boys woke to a house full of decorations.  And enjoyed a lazy morning before having breakfast cookies.  I made sugar cookies with smiley faces.  Hey, couldn't be any worse than donuts!

The weekend is here and we are ready for more celebrating.

But before I tell you all about our FUN Weekend let me back up to my post on Wednesday.  If you missed it you can find it HERE .  It was titled "What Almost 8 Year Old Boys Do".  Well that day they did something that surely should have been in that post.  I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Yes, the lizard is real.

Poor lizard.

Now moving on to this big weekend.  Tomorrow we are having a small family party for the boys.  Last year was a big one with friends so this year it is small.  A say small, but birthdays are always very important to me so I plan to make it as big as I can without a big crowd.  I'll still go all out on the decorations and of course a fabulous cake and cookie pizza.  And I will share both recipes.  The cookie pizza is SUPER easy and a great addition to any party.  I'll share that tomorrow.  But today I am sharing the cake recipe.  It is an old family favorite.  Brant's mom has been making since he was a little boy as well as my mom while I was growing up.  I took my mom's recipe and the Pioneer Woman's recipe and made my own.  It is basically my mom's without cinnamon in the icing.  And it is the cake the boys requested for their birthday.  Of course if you live in Texas you can not have this cake without Blue Bell Ice Cream .  I decided to go with the little Sundae Ice Cream Cups because I think they are so darn cute the boys love them!

Chocolate Sheet Cake -you will LOVE this cake!!

I have a busy Friday ahead preparing, baking and decorating.  Busy, but oh so much FUN!!!  And since it is suppose to be a nice day you can bet I will get OUTSIDE at some point in the day. Maybe while that Chocolate Sheet Cake is baking I can get some sun on my pale white feet.

What are your FUN plans for this weekend?

Make sure you get outside to see, smell and feel SPRING!!!

Get OUTSIDE and have some FUN!!!!
