Last of the Christmas Jar memories

The Christmas Jar is now empty.
I pulled the last of the ideas from the jar a few nights ago.  Last night we had a free night before more family arrives so we made plans to make it our last memory from the jar. This was actually my idea and now I am wondering what on earth was I thinking!!!!!  Play games?!?!
It seemed like a good idea, but after last night I am not sure. I came up with this idea for the jar because I knew thought it would be something the boys would love.  And that is what this whole Christmas Jar was all about.  Making it fun for them.
So last night I got down some of their games, turned on the Christmas music, popped the corn and the FUN was under way.

The map game was a gift from Mimi and Pawpaw on Monday night.  The boys are far too young for it, but we played teams, let them do the spinning and gave them the answers. They enjoyed it.  We played this for a while and then move on to one of my very least favorite games..............

Trouble!
And it was trouble!  By this point the boys had lost all interest in playing games.  I guess the learning game was too much.  I quickly gave up and they had no problem with it.
So maybe this was not the best Christmas Jar memory, but at least we set aside a time to be together.
We had a warm fire, wonderful Christmas music playing in the background, popcorn that Matthew enjoyed
and time together as a family.  That is all I wanted out of the Christmas Jar memories.  Time spent together!  My job is accomplished and I am very pleased with the FUN we have had throughout December making memories.   I look forward to doing it again next year! For now we will focus on the next few days ahead.

GREAT idea! I hope I can remember that next year. Maybe I will tuck a note in the decorations box :) I did a memory jar as a gift to my mom one year. She said it was the best gift she's ever received. I put every memory I could think of on separate scraps of pretty paper and then I added thank yous like, thank you for teaching me to be respectful, etc in it too. She had over a year's worth in there and everyday she took one out to read it. It was a fabulous encouragement to her and her friends at work were envious of it :) It cost me nothing but time!

Glad to have you found you :)
