The Christmas Jar-Making memories

I love traditions.  And I especially love traditions that go along with the holidays. If you are one that does not overlap holidays(Thanksgiving and Christmas) just so you know,  I don't either.  I am just getting ahead of the game since next week will be busy(The Thanksgiving Tour as I like to call it).
Before we know it......BAM!.....it will be December.
This year we are starting something new!  And it will all be geared for family time.  The Christmas Jar holds ideas we all came up with for FUN stuff to do during the month of December.
We all four(some more than others)contributed to coming up with some fun things we can do as a family.
All you need is some sort of container, paper, pen, crayons and maybe a ribbon.  This can be really simple or you could go all out.  You can do it all or let your children help.  I took the ideas and then I did the rest.
I found a jar at Goodwill for $1.50.  And since Hobby Lobby was having a sale I let the boys pick out some Christmas ribbon.  I had the paper and decided to type out our ideas on the computer and then print them.

Because life can get crazy in December, wait who am I kidding, life can get crazy in June!  Anyway, since things seem to get crazy around the holidays we will try to do a couple of fun things during the week.  And maybe something on the weekend.
Here are a few of our ideas:
-make smores by the fire
-watch Christmas Vacation
-hang Christmas lights on the boys' fort
-pop popcorn and play board games by the tree
(while listening to Christmas music...Brant will love this one! {wink-wink})

The one thing I want to do is make it FUN!  And not spend lots of money.  Memories are of the heart and you do not have to spend a lot of money to make them.  My goal as a mom is to leave the boys a legacy of FUN memories at Christmas.........not a legacy of "stuff" under the tree.

What's in your Christmas jar?

Hide and seek in the dark, inside, sometime in the month of December(usually Christmas Eve). We've been doing this one for years. It can be dangerous, so we have had to come up with a few rules(mainly for Brent:) We play for about an hour. The girls are already looking forward to it and have banned any activities that would interfere with this family time.

A Few more of our favorite things...
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Holiday Inn
A Christmas Carol
White Christmas
Christmas in Connecticut
Silent Night
and our all time favorite movie that we must watch every December is It's A Wonderful Life.
We always read a christmas book in December. We enjoy lots of Christmas music. Of course there is always lots of activity in the kitchen.
I nearly forgot about the camp outs under the tree when the girls were younger(and their parents).
