Waiting and Being Patient

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
Psalm 27:14

An amazing verse, but it is SO hard!!!!

Lately this post has been on my mind, but I had no idea how to put it into words. So I said to myself, "Just start writing and the words will come!"

I started it yesterday and went back and forth with what was on my mind.  As I do everyday I scan all my favorite blogs.  One being Girltalk .  Well low and behold yesterday they actually had a post about waiting.  Because I am the way I am I took this as a sign.  I sure don't write as well as those ladies on Girltalk, but waiting has been on my mind.  And when something is on my mind I can't keep it there for long.

So here it is....all jumbled and mixed up, but words to think about.  To ponder on.  To take to heart and try to live by.

For me it might be waiting for the boys to get all things done in the morning so we can start school ALREADY!!!  Or maybe it is me waiting in the line at the grocery store behind that lady that has 100 coupons (probably saving $100!!!) and I just want to pay and get out of the store. On a more serious note maybe it is me waiting on our life to be different....more fruitful in lots of ways.

Whatever it might be, more times than none we are all waiting for something.....

-Maybe it is a job situation that’s really tough to endure and you are waiting and hoping that conditions will change for the better.
-Maybe it is being without a job and waiting for news on the recent interview.
-Maybe you have a loved one who is ill and waiting for health to improve. Or maybe it is you with the health problems!
-Maybe you are on a diet and waiting for your weight to drop a few pounds.
-A single person may be waiting for Mr. or Miss Right.
-Or maybe you are waiting for your spouse or child to become interested in spiritual things.

The fact is we are constantly waiting on something in our life.  BIG or small.  And how we handle these situations can drastically make or break us.

The past year enabled me to learn to wait on many answers from God.  We spent lots of time in prayer.  We spent lots of time waiting on answers.  Some times those answers did not come quick enough.  And some times they did not come at all.  Some we are still waiting on!!!

Through it all my strength has grown more than I could have imagined.  I still wait and sometimes get very impatient, but through my faith in God it is so much easier now.

I am confident in knowing that God is in control over all events in my life.  Every. Little. Detail.  With Him nothing is accidental, nothing is incidental and no experience is wasted.  Every trail that He allows to happen is a platform on which He reveals Himself, showing His love and power to both me and others looking on.

The only thing that keeps me from going absolutely cRaZy during "wait times" is God's Word.  Verses that I go back to over and over and over again.  And then over and over again!!!!

Verses that teach me to wait, to have faith and trust in my Heavenly Father.

Being patient does not come easy.  It is something (at least for me) that has to be learned and applied daily.  Sometimes minute by minute!

Here are just a few of my favorite verses that have brought comfort to me as I have waited and continue to wait on the Lord to show me direction for our lives.  The Bible is FULL of verses about waiting and seeking God during a waiting period.

I hope these verses bring comfort to you too if you are waiting and trying to be patient.

Isaiah 40:31 They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Colossians 1:11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.

Lamentations 3:25 The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.

~All the pictures were taken during SPRING in 2011.  They bring me peace as I wait on the Lord.

What a beautiful post Tasha! I am such a control freak that this is one of the hardest things for me as well! Your message is beautiful and so are your pictures!
