GIVEAWAY:Cole and the Crooked Flower

You may remember a post about Cole and the Crooked Flower a while back.
You can search for it in the search box on the right.
I was asking for your help to get this children's book published.  Well it was indeed published and I have SIX copies in my hands now!!!  And I want to give TWO away to YOU!!!

This book is very precious to me. It is a children's book written by the parents of Cole who has Progressive Infantile Scoliosis.  Just like my son, Ryan.  You can read Ryan's story as well as updates on his condition in the "Infantile Scoliosis" tab.  And other children's stories too!

Cole and the Crooked Flower is about a little boy while exploring his garden finds a crooked flower. Determined to help the flower grow straight, Cole tries everything he can think of, including milk to make it grow stronger, massage to work out its kinks, even a hair iron. Finally, with a little bit of help, he finds a gentle cure, and soon his flower is the tallest, straightest in the garden.

Scoliosis is the curvature and rotation of the spine. Progressive Infantile Scoliosis is a rare form of scoliosis affecting approximately 1 in 10,000 children from birth to age 3 years. Unlike the more commonly known form of adolescent scoliosis, infantile scoliosis is a very serious condition that requires immediate treatment. Children under 3 still have lots of growing to do, and without treatment their spines will continue to curve and rotate as they grow. This unfortunately can result in rapid progression of the condition potentially leading to physical deformity, discomfort, respiratory and heart problems. The good news is that in the majority of cases this rapid growth can also be the CURE.

I plan to give one copy to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital where Ryan goes for treatment and has been going since January 2006.  Another I plan to give to his amazing pediatrician who pointed out his scoliosis.  Even if you do not have a child with scoliosis it is a great story for any child, and would make a fantastic donation to a library, or doctors office.

And today I want to give away TWO copies to my readers!!  All you need to do is leave me a comment.  And for those who have a blog I would LOVE for you to share this post on your blog.  Let me know if you do.....that will give you an extra chance to win!!  And that my dear is called AWARENESS.  That has always been my goal with Ryan's condition......to spread AWARENESS about Progressive Infantile Scoliosis.  AWARENESS is key for parents to realize there is EARLY treatment for their child.  So sharing on your blog is helping me spread the word.

Go ahead leave me a comment so I can get this amazing book sent out to you very soon!!!  I will draw two names next Wednesday, March 14th and annouce the winners.

About the real Cole:
In 2008, our son Cole, was born with Progressive Infantile Scoliosis. He was diagnosed at 15 months old and by 17 months old started treatment, using serial body casting with the hope of avoiding surgery. My husband wrote this book to help explain the condition and the treatment to our young son, in a fun, simple way. We are happy to share that in 2010 his treatment successfully cured his scoliosis. Today Cole is 4 years old and has a 2 degree curve. He is expected to continue to grow straight.

I think it's great that you sharing Cole's scoliosis story.

I'm not sure how many of you are aware of the recent scientific developments and breakthroughs that have or are recently occurring in the field of scoliosis treatment. Prognostic testing/technology in the way of genetic testing and blood tests are now able to determine which early stage scoliosis patients are most likely to experience severe curve progression. This presents a new and unique opportunity for early stage scoliosis intervention rehab programs to reduce and eliminate many of the "at risk" smaller curve cases before they progress to much more complex and difficult large curvature cases. It’s actually quite revolutionary and amazing.
