I was closer to 40! |
Before children I cooked many nights and made sweet treats from time to time. Once I had twins I gave up on cooking almost all together. But in the past few years I have become much more daring in the kitchen. I have learned to make lots of homemade meals, snacks, treats, etc. instead of buying processed. I started baking and cooking like a MAD woman! I decided to be brave in the kitchen.
I love to try new recipes. Many times they are not what I thought they would be, but oh so close. Many times I get really bummed out that no one likes a new recipe, but me. And that is when I have to remember to try, try again.
So here is one I will be trying again........the highly anticipated results of the Macaroni and Cheese Pizza.
Macaroni and Cheese Pizza-the homemade macaroni and cheese was to die for!! Seriously if you are still making mac-n-cheese from a box it is time to start making homemade. It is so easy and taste way better!!! Butter and flour to make a roux, add milk and cook until nice and thick. Add lots of extra sharp cheddar and drink it up. No really then add the pasta. Oh WOW! This was a goal of mine a couple of years ago to learn to make homemade macaroni and cheese. Now don't get me wrong. The boys lived on Kraft mac-n-cheese when they were younger. I can see them now in their highchairs eating a bowl of it. Even the microwave kind! I shudder!!!!!! Sadly I ruined Ryan. He prefers the stinking Annie's brand shells and cheese that I do buy every once in a while. Annie's is "organic", but that still can not compare to homemade. Box over my homemade? Silly boy. He has no idea what he is missing! Fortunately his brother loves it and eats his share.
If you are a user of the box mac-n-cheese I dare you to make homemade mac-n-cheese this week!
Here is our family's favorite....well almost our entire family.
Pioneer Woman's Macaroni and Cheese -for the pizza I did not use this recipe exactly. I made it as I said above....Butter and flour to make a roux, add milk and cook until nice and thick. Add lots of extra sharp cheddar and drink it up. No really then add the pasta.
Anyway back to the pizza. The macaroni and cheese pizza was not to die for. It was eaten, but was not a total hit. It was good, but could have been much better. Due to timing of making the mac-n-cheese and the homemade pizza crust, when I added the mac-n-cheese a lot of the sauce had cooked down. To avoid this next time (yes, there will be a next time) I am thinking of adding an Alfredo sauce to the pizza crust. It was in major need of a sauce. And a little more flavor. Maybe bacon crumbles on top next time too.
So my Tuesday Tip for you is Try, Try Again . When it comes to new recipes don't give up. Make changes, jot them down and commit to making it again if you think you can make it better. Oh sure it is easy to make the same old favorite recipes week after week, but where is the fun in that?!
Try something new and have a good attitude about it. The worse thing I can do is say it taste bad, funny or I don't like it. The boys immediately have a preconceived view of that food, meal or recipe. I try to keep my comments to myself (tell your husband to do the same!).
Don't give up and Try, Try Again!!!!!

I just heard about Mac and cheese pizza last night on parks and Rex and was very curious. Do you have a recipe Tasha?
Not really Danielle. I looked at several on the internet and thought I could wing it. I used the same homemade pizza dough I usually do and then made the mac and cheese from scratch. Like I said I think it needed a "sauce". When I make it again I'll add a recipe to my blog. You are good in the kitchen, I am sure you can wing it.
Thank you for the encouragement! Many days I need just that. A little encouragement to get me past the disappointments of maring a meal lol I married at Eighteen and was a flop in the kitchen, my first biscuit and gravy breakfat was paper mâché paste and hockey pucks! however I would try try again and after twenty two and half years of tring my food is eatable now lol well except on the days I burn stuff or was not paying attention and forget a step oops! I love this Mac and cheese recipe, I think I found it from you. When I make the MAC n Cheese pizza, I make double of the sauce and sprinkle a little cheese on top of it all. I think I will try the Alfredo you mentioned" sounds good! I put that on a spinach Alfredo pizza I have made. I do not have a special recipe. Do you have a Alfredo recipe you like??? I always enjoy visiting you here. ((((Tasha)))) I hope you are cooking up some kitchen love for the Fam this week.
Hi Angelia,
Thanks for your tip on making extra sauce! Maybe I'll try that first. No, I don't have an Alfredo sauce. And I would LOVE your recipe for the spinach Alfredo pizza! That sounds amazing.
