All day

Yesterday was such a great day to be outside.  And the boys spent every moment possible out in the back yard.  They only came in briefly when it started raining.
We dug up three of the four raised bed gardens in order to prepare for our Fall gardens.  This was such a delight for the boys. We saw all kinds of God's creatures as we pulled up plants in the garden.  Bugs, prickly caterpillars and geckos!  Oh and a few worms!

As I pulled vine after vine of cucumber, squash, cantaloupe and watermelon, the boys would look for fruits or vegetables to pick.  There were a few.  They gathered them up and toted them all around the yard.

The three of us tried to pull up this one huge okra plant that was about 5 feet tall.  The boys tried and tired, but just could not do it. Ryan even tried to saw it down with our garden school sign.  None of us could get it down, but I knew someone strong who could. :)

That's right,  my manly man did it the first try.
When he got home more work began and the boys were right along side him having a ball.  We removed all weeds from the garden beds and I even tilled the soil with this hand held tool...a hoe?.....man that is hard work.
Brant had some extra wood from planter boxes and the boys were all over it!!  I think this was the most fun for them.  Wood and boys....how do they just know to build things?!
They used the wood to make see saws, gang planks around the garden beds and this nice little hiding place.

Matthew then had this GREAT idea of taking the wood and making a sand box or club house.  I had this GREAT idea of closing in their fort.  We'll see what Daddy thinks.  Matthew requested a meeting yesterday with Brant to tell him how to make a sandbox with 4 pieces of wood.  And even how many nails he would need for each piece of wood.  Can you tell they watch their Daddy work?  God, I am so thankful for a hard working man/Daddy that can work. I am certain without a doubt these little boys will be the same.
The fun just never seemed to run out for them.  All the produce they gathered earlier in the day turned into balls to throw and make a mess.  Fruits and veggies all over their slide...a total mess, but lots of fun for little boys!
It was days like yesterday I long to live on a big piece of land where the boys can roam and explore.  A place I can't hear the highway(North Beach-6 lanes of traffic).
For now I am very thankful for where we live.
As I type the boys are outside building things with the wood.  It is a little warmer today with the sun out, but it feels too good for them to be indoors. I think if Matthew had a hammer and nails he just might be able to build them something himself.
I am sure lunch will be served on the picnic table or in the fort today.
It is surely going to be another day of being out ALL DAY.

Did you notice their shirts?  They will not be able to wear them much longer.
In this picture they are screaming, "Future Homeschooler!"  And "We love nature!"
And I had nothing to do with what came out of their mouths!  Makes this Momma proud :)

Charlie and Trike in the Grand Canyon Giveaway

If you are familiar with Answers in Genesis and Ken Ham's books you must head on over to
A Wise Woman Builds Her Home for this giveaway.  Besides that it is a beautiful blog with lots of encouragement for me as a new homeschooling Momma.

72 and overcast

It is a lovely morning.  Nice breeze and overcast.  Enough to make you feel like Fall is here, but I know it is not.  This is a day to be outdoors.  Working in the yard, sitting with a cup of coffee, reading a book or just playing.  Going on a nature walk is high on our list and working on removing our almost dead garden.  What ever it is we decide to do today it must be done outside.
And Charlotte Mason said it best.......

Never be within doors when you can rightly be without. CM

With that being said I am headed out the door.

Randomness from 5 year old boys

Well we had our first fist fight here today!  Ryan PUNCHED Matthew in the jaw.  Ryan has a pretty strong arm for a five year old.  You should see this kid throw a baseball.
Anyway, Matthew was bugging Ryan and he decided he had had enough.  PUNCH!  In the jaw. Matthew was screaming holding his face.  Thank God Matthew had just lost his tooth earlier or this may have knocked it out.  I think we have our hands full.
*****
As I was putting Matthew's PJs on one night he says........
Matthew:  Momma, what does W E H T T A M spell?
Me: I don't know Matthew.....I have no idea. What?(I heard him spell it, but it sure did not sound like a word)
Matthew: It's my name spelled backwards!
*****

After dinner we have family Bible study.  Before we begin Brant prays for the Bible study.  Last night after Brant prayed we all opened our eyes and Ryan has his head on the table, eyes closed, making snoring sounds.  He is such the wise guy!
*****

Driving in the car the other day I hear Matthew singing.  As I listened closer I figured it out.  He was singing
Juicebox Hero.  On the radio at the time was the old tune Jukebox Hero.  It was so cute I am in the process of writing a tune about Juicebox Heros.  (if you have no idea what song I am talking about look up Jukebox Heros on Youtube)
*****

Lately I have had to take toys anyway from the boys because they will not pick them up.  Toys like LEGOS!  Three different sizes.  Big, medium and SUPER tiny(and there are hundreds of these!) So when they get out all 3 sizes it is a totally wreck! Well I took them all away,  BUT they still have their Lincoln Logs.  I go to the grocery store yesterday and come back to find Lincoln Logs all over Ryan's bedroom.
I called him in his room and asked who made this mess.  Without any hesitation or second thought he says Matthew did it.  So I then call Matthew in there and tell him Ryan says he did this.  Immediately Matthew starts freaking out and says he did not do it that Ryan did it. I knew he was telling the truth.
I then inform him someone is lying and God knows who that is.....who did this?
Ryan says...with that Ryan grin, "Well I think I made a teny, tiny mistake....I didn't mean to lie."  This boy knows how to lie and does it good.  God help me nip this in the bud!!!
*****

And I saved the best for last.  Today has been cloudy and RAINY!  And has made the temps go down.  It has been in the high 80s.  YES!  So with temps like that I did not mind getting out to run errands.  The boys were longing to get out of the house so after lunch we loaded up and took off.  Quick trips in and out of 3 different stores looking for certain supplies for school.  As we got out of the car on our last stop the boys discovered the parking lot was FULL of puddles.  Yep, you guessed it.  They had to JUMP in every puddle in the parking lot.  And I didn't say a word.  Cars had to stop or wait as I allowed my little boys to be boys and jump in every rain puddle they could find.  And as I watched people waiting and watching my boys, most had a big smile from ear to ear.  It has been so HOT around here lately I think all the rain may have put people in a good mood.  As we are shopping we can hear it raining again.  The boys were so excited because that meant bigger puddles.  And so as we walked to the car to come home they did it all over again.
Same thing.....cars waiting and stopping and smiles from friendly folks.
Matthew says, "You know Momma, it kinda feels good for your feet to be wet in flip flops."
It sure does when it usually is 106 with the heat index!!
*****

And that is your randomness from 5 year old boys.

Muffin Tin Monday

Well I am leaving the muffin tin lunch for Mondays only.  I decided it would get too boring too fast for the boys.  This is great for me because now I have a set lunch for Mondays.
This week over at  Muffin Tin Monday( http://michellesjournalcorner.blogspot.com/) it is ABC theme week.
Here is what we came up with today.
A is for Apples, B is for bread and blueberries, C is for cheese, cereal bars and crackers, G is for Goldfish and then we skip to the end of the alphabet and Y is for yogurt drink!
Yes I am aware of all the bread/crackers, but I have yet to go to the grocery store.
I needed some fillers :)
Happy Monday all!

Praise God!!!!

Praise GOD!!!!!!!!!
We had a very good visit at Scottish Rite today and with GOOD news!!
For some reading this it may not seem like good news because there were not major changes. But if you follow my blog and learn about Infantile Scoliosis you will soon find out NO change is fantastic!
Because there is no science to measuring scoliosis it is hard to say what happened. In case you do not know there is always a 5-7 degree of variance to any measurement. And 2 different doctors could measure the same exact curve on an xray and come up with two TOTALLY different measurements.
All that being said........all we know is that the xray from 6 months ago compared to today's xray there is improvement!!
His doctor was clear on what could have happened.....remember there is no science to this....he thought the previous xray could have been bad positioning. Or Ryan did in fact improve. Or the whole variance thing.
Who knows? Better yet who cares?! His doctor thought Ryan looked great and the xray does in fact show some improvement. That is what matters.  It took me years to be able to say that and mean it, but numbers mean nothing.  You look at the xray and the overall body.
He made it clear for me to ease up on this little boy and let him be a kid! He only said this because he knows how strict I am about brace time.
I love that most about our visit today. I saw a different doctor and am very pleased. He is looking at Ryan(as a FIVE year old BOY!)and caring about what this child needs. To be a kid.
We will proceed with the same plan we have been doing. 16 hours a day in the brace. Most of that time while he sleeps and the remainder 4-6 hours during the day.
And if Ryan wants his brace off we will be a little more easy going about taking it off. We are NOT ready to go cold turkey on the brace. Like his doctor said today, "Y'all have worked too hard while casting and bracing to take steps backwards".
So for now we continue down this road on our journey with Infantile Scoliosis.  We have a good game plan in place and nothing is changing for Ryan.   That is HUGE!!!
Praise be to God!!!!!!!

6 month Check-up/xray

We are headed out to Scottish Rite this morning for Ryan's check-up/xray.  Hopefully a new brace!
Praising God for the improvement Ryan has had so far and praying for more correction!
It will be a long day(hope not though)and then I have to process it all. **Headache meds in purse**
Will update later this afternoon.

Trail Mix Bars

In my search for school lunches it hit me that I will also need snacks.  To be honest my boys are big time snackers anyway.  They will graze all day long if we let them.  So I knew I needed some yummy NEW snacks.  I want to get back in the habit of homemade snacks too!  Well here is one of four semi-healthy snacks I will share in the next few weeks.  I am trying them out to make sure they are keepers with the boys.
Ryan gave them 2 thumbs up and Matthew 10 fingers up.......he said that means they are really good!

Trail Mix Bars
4 Tbls(1/2 stick)unsalted butter
3 Tbls honey
1 1/3 cups quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup Cheerios
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup salted peanuts or pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/4 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 325F. Line 8-inch square pan with parchment paper.

Put the butter and honey in a small saucepan and heat gently until the butter has melted.  Set aside to cool.

Put the remaining ingredients in a large bowl and stir to combine.  Add the cooled butter mixture and mix well.  Transfer to the prepared pan and press down firmly with the bottom of a measuring cup.  bake for 30 minutes or until the center is just firm to the touch.

Allow to cool for 15 minutes, then mark into eight bars, using a sharp knife.  Allow to cool completely before lifting from the pan.  Store in an airtight container.

**Notes**
-I used unsalted peanuts because the sunflower seeds were salted.
-Recipe said 8 bars. I cut ours up smaller so I had a lot more.  I never got a good count because they started eating quicker than I could count.

I like that this is a small recipe. An easy recipe to make on short notice. Super quick and easy!
Perfect for a snack or for breakfast with some yogurt and fruit.  Enjoy!

Dreaming of Fall

The boys were outside at 7:45 this morning playing.  It was and still is a cloudy day and a nice 84 degrees.  While the boys were out they discovered our Burr Oak is covered in acorns.  Our first sign of what I am longing for......FALL!

I know, I know we still have a couple of months of HOT days, but to see these acorns growing gives me hope.  And makes me dream of Fall days.  The changing colors, the leaves falling, the cooler days and SO much more that I love about Fall.  So today I am dreaming of Fall.

***Note about acorns***-If you are a local and would like some let me know.  These are BIG acorns!  Most are the size of a golf ball....some bigger and smaller.  Around October they start falling.  I try to watch each morning to grab them before bugs, worms and such attack them.  Some fall with the little hat thingy on them and some do not.  We usually have a ton.  They are green in the picture, but of course by the time they fall off the tree they beautiful shades of brown.
I use them throughout Fall for decorations.

My little Van Gogh

Paintings have a life of their own that derives from the painter's soul.

Vincent Van Gogh

This could also be said for drawing and very true of my little Van Gogh, Matthew.  I can not begin to tell you the desire this child has for drawing.  It is an obsession to him.  One I will allow and do my best to nurture and foster along the way.  The days begin and end with drawings.  Pens, pencils, crayons and markers....it does not matter.  As long as he can have an instrument in his hands to create.  The amount of paper we go through is crazy, but I will continue to supply him with it.  My parents brought the boys a ream of paper(that is 500 sheets)this past weekend.  I am anxious to see how quickly he will go through it.  BTW Ryan could care less about drawing, but Matthew was born to draw.
Here are two of his most recent drawings that I love....

This one is a stomach digesting food.  There is a potato, blueberries and orange soda.  Not sure where he got this idea from or how this all came about, but he had to draw it.

And this one he told me is a drawing of an outdoor Farmer's Market. See the man picking his peaches, limes and blueberries.  And check out the airplane flying overhead.

He had some others from this past weekend, but I think my Mom snagged those.  He was drawing things with extreme details.  For instance drawings with sound waves and lights shining through things. During my parents' weekend stay at one point everyone had to come to the table and draw.  We had a drawing party!  OK everyone, but Ryan.  Instead of drawing he wore his new bicycle helmet while climbing mountains(blow up mattresses), but not Matthew.
He draws what he is thinking.  He never comes to ask, how do I draw this or that.  He just DRAWS it if he is thinking it!
So I have already rearranged our school room to accommodate my little Van Gogh.  We will now have an Art Station full of paper, crayons, pens, markers, etc.  They already have full access to all this, but arts and crafts must be a part of our day.
And I am hoping #1 will decide he wants to draw instead of climbing mountains one day.
For now I sit back and watch my little Van Gogh create.

BOOKS!

Is that a great picture or what?!?!  Eleven books to add to our library!!  These are 11 out of 26 books that will go with our lessons for school.  Thanks to my Mom and Aunt Alice.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Our curriculum suggest books to go with each week's lessons.  It suggest either purchasing them or making a trip to the library.  What a blessing to have these given to the boys!!!  I will put them away until that particular lesson.  What a special treat it will be for the boys to have a new book to go with their lesson for that week!  Our library is growing quickly these days.  And the boys are showing many signs of being ready to read.
In the past few weeks I have found the boys in our school room, laying on their beds(or our bed)or hanging out on the couch looking at books.  As if they were reading them they will sit quietly and look through books for a while.  I have to go see what is going on because it stays quiet for so long.

Oh how I hope they are readers and lovers of books.  I must admit I am not a reader.  I read when I have to, but can not sit to read for pleasure.  I simply fall asleep.  Their Daddy on the other hand is a reader.  I pray they pick that up from him.  What I love about these pictures of the boys is they did this all on their own.  I did not instruct them to go find a book to read.....this was none of my doings, but all of theirs.  LOVE that!  BOOKS!  Aren't they great!

Feeling anxious

It is hard to believe it has been six months and we will go for Ryan's check-up and xray next Friday, August 20th.  I knew it was coming and know everything to expect, but it sure does not make it any easier.  First and foremost I am so very thankful that Ryan can walk, run, jump, play hard and pretty much be a typical little boy.  We are blessed beyond measure with the success of his treatment.  And yes here comes that but again, but I can not help feeling sick to my stomach with the thought that he may very well have to be in this dang brace for the rest of his growing childhood!!!!!  I just can't help it!  It is times like this I get mad, upset, angry and want to scream WHY?!!!  I don't scream, but silently sit here and ponder on what his life might be like without the brace.  I guess not that different, but I wouldn't have to set a timer to remind me to put his brace back on.  He wouldn't come to me and ask, "Momma, is it time to take my brace off?"  I wouldn't have to worry about him getting hot in the summer months playing outside.  I wouldn't have to hear him tell me his back hurts. He wouldn't be upset that his brother doesn't have to wear a brace and he does.  He wouldn't complain of wearing a brace period!  And we wouldn't have to go every six months for another xray!
Oh well, not much I can do about it.  This is our life.  I always tell others on my support group.......it is what it is and we learn to deal with it.  We keep living and playing!
So I am asking you to keep Ryan and our family in your thoughts and prayers.  My prayer is that there has been some improvement with the added brace wear since his last check-up.  Of course I pray he will not have to wear it as much, but that is a dream......I am certain of that.  Whatever the outcome of the appointment next Friday is I know I can handle it.  OK unless his doctor says he has to go back into a plaster cast.  YIKES!  I think you would hear my screams if that is the case, but I will not go there at this point.  I will trust in God and take this one day at a time.
I know God has a plan.  I truly do!  Exactly what that plan is I do not know, but it is a good one.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
***If you are new here....Ryan has Infantile Scoliosis.  Please read his story further down the page.
And feel free to ask questions.  I am happy to make you AWARE of this condition.***

NOT back to school-Our school room

This week on the NOT Back to School Blog Hop it's School Room Week!

Our school room is also our dining room.  I wasn't sure I would like it this way, but the space is great!
There are a few other little things I would like to do, but for the most part it is complete and we are set to begin our first year of homeschooling!!!!!!!
So check out our room.

Here is where we will do some of our school work.  We are big on nature so the great outdoors will also be our classroom.  Can't wait for FALL!!!!!

Here is my desk and a bookshelf with books for the boys.  The bookshelf is really too small for the amount of books we have so we store most in another room.  These are free time books.   We'll eventually have to buy something new and much bigger.

Poster/learning wall  and bins with all kinds of fun stuff to do. The posters will change frequently I am sure as the boys learn.  And I think it will keep things more interesting for them anyway.  The little purple chest is also filled with free time stuff........paper, tablets, coloring books, colors, etc.  I have an artist in the house so these supplies are replaced often.

Because I already know the boys learn very differently I set these bins up for continued learning while the other might be finishing up school work.  Of course they will be free to use all this stuff even when we are not having school.

Here is the bulletin board you saw in the picture with the table.  Don't you like my homemade border?!
We are using My Father's World curriculum and I made copies of all the lesson themes and glued them to the green 99 cent border.  The boys will have fun finding each week's theme.  Anyway this bulletin board holds all the things we will do first thing each morning.  The rules, weather, important numbers, address and learning today, tomorrow and yesterday(courtesy of http://confessionsofahomeschooler.blogspot.com/).

And then there is our supply closet.  I worked with what I had or could buy at a reasonable price to turn this coat closet into our school supply closet.  I love that it holds everything we will need(for now)to begin kindergarten.  As you can see it is pretty full, but I do have a little room where shelves could be added.........hint-hint honey :)

So that is our room.  If you want to see more homeschool rooms HOP on over to
I am heading there now to get some more great ideas!!!

Muffin Tin Lunch

They loved it!!!!  This was a hit!  Read the post below about school lunches if you are wondering what I am talking about.
I had a box of cereal bars that had been in the pantry for a month.  Today I magically cut them up and they devoured them!!!!
Check out our Muffin Tin Lunch...............

Cucumbers, bell peppers, Ranch dip, cheese, ham, honey wheat pretzels, crackers, blueberry cereal bars, apples and strawberries.

School lunches

I don't know about you, but lunch never goes well around here. Breakfast happens without a second thought.  By 9:30 everyone has had breakfast and the day is off and running.
The morning really gets busy.....I get into house stuff, computer stuff, school stuff meanwhile the boys play, fight, play some more and then YIKES!  It's lunch time.
With school starting soon it is so important I have a game plan.  Otherwise hungry boys=MELTDOWNS!  Our mornings will be filled with lessons, crafts, outside adventures, more lessons and so and so forth.
Since I am unsure of how timing will go with our days I need to make sure lunch is a breeze.  Easy, simple, quick!
Well I came across a pretty cute idea and I am going to try it!  Muffin tin meals.  Check out this huge craze of Muffin Tin Mom.  Not just for homeschoolers either!
http://michellesjournalcorner.blogspot.com/
One of the boys' favorite types of lunch is lots of little things on a big tray.  Veggies, fruit, crackers, cheese,  deli meats, ranch dip, cut-up granola bites maybe a cookie or brownie. The list goes on and on.
The muffin tin will hold all that.  And the ideas are endless.
This is the best idea I have seen in a while and I think they will LOVE it!
So I am off to search for muffin tins.  I do not need brand new ones. And maybe even some cute ones.  The boys are still young enough for cute.  And cupcake liners are a great option to avoid washer daily.
So I think I have school lunches figured out.

It's ALL about school!!!

**********
Update:  NO we have not started school yet!  Since my post below I have had several inquires as to whether we have started school yet.  So let me clear it up for anyone else........NOT YET!
Yes, we are very excited.  Yes, we are ready to start.  BUT not until September.  We are still enjoying some FREE time for now.
**********

Like my new blog background?!  I just couldn't hold out any longer......I had to get a school background because right now it is ALL about SCHOOL around here!!!!
I'll save all the details for later, but know I am far ahead of where I thought I would be at this time and the room is just about complete.  Can't wait to show you the changes!  Still need to purchase a few supplies and then we are ready to roll.
It's too hot to play outside so we might as well get started.  The boys are excited and ready.  And so am I!!

Gotcha!

I have this thing with nature.  Any kind of nature.  And when it comes to God's creatures I am especially curious and need a closer look.  For almost a month now there has been a Cardinal who sits in our front and back yard and sings.  He has a distinct little song and when I hear it I know it is him.  With the dog and the boys scurrying all around it has been hard to get a closer look.  BUT God blessed me the other morning with a still bird and a quiet morning.  As I took Arthur out I heard his song.  I quickly ran back in to grab my camera.  As I did I prayed the dog would not scare him away.  Sure enough when I got back there he was still in the top of the tree singing that little song I have learned this summer.  GOTCHA!

For just a few minutes I was able to stand in awe of this beautiful creature GOD made!  Amazing!  It is times like this, that when the world is closing in around me,  that I sit back and think of the many blessing right before my eyes.  ALL blessings God has given me!!!  I don't need the "world" and all the garbage it throws at me.  I have everything I need in God.  So thank you God for orchestrating this GOTCHA moment so I could  finally capture a closer look at one of your creatures.

And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let BIRDS fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.  So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds and every winged BIRD according to its kind.  And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:20-21

School stuff and weather

I have been busy changing things up in our school room/DR.  I thought it would be good to have a fresh look when school starts.  So I took down my existing stuff and rearranged it all.  And will add new stuff too!
The boys' excitement warms my heart.  It is truly priceless!  And yesterday when their curriculum came I saw that same excitement.  Take a look.

I had planned on showing you some of the new things later when my room is complete, but some cuteness occurred and it must be shared!
We have already started using these printables(you'll see this in the video below)that I found on one of my new favorite homeschool blogs, Confessions of a Homeschooler.
http://confessionsofahomeschooler.blogspot.com/
The boys have been very interested in "tomorrow".  They will ask me, "Does tomorrow have a tomorrow?"  So when I came across this printable it was perfect!!
The curriculum came with a calendar so I will just add this in our everyday lesson.

Also from Confessions of a Homeschooler blog I found this "Chart the Weather" printable.  Daily we will chart what the weather is for that day.  To go along with us tracking the daily weather is a Weather Graph.  This is where we will keep track of what the weather was like each day of that particular month.

I had both printables laminated.  And then cut them out.  I added Velcro so we could attach the squares for the Yesterday/Today/Tomorrow chart.  The "What's The Weather Like Today" has little squares with weather ranging from Sunny(shown above)to Snowy.  The boys are already having fun with this.

OK now on to some cuteness.
If you know Matthew you know he is a little shy in public, but a totally different boy at home.  And put him in front of a camera and WOW!,  the boy is a real performer!  Ryan is just the opposite in front of a camera.
So without further ado I give you Matthew the Weather Man.  (Listen closely because Ryan does talk over Matthew in some spots.)

Easy!

I am asked daily after lunch and dinner, "What's for dessert?"  I have no one to blame, but myself.  That is just how we do things around here.  A meal is not complete without a dessert.  And usually we do dessert up BIG!  But we have "tried" to save the big ones for the weekends.
During the week is where I struggle.  I will have homemade or, forgive me, store bought cookies.  Puddings, jello and even fresh fruit.
And now I have a new, EASY, quick and yummy dessert.  And the boys can help make it!!!  They love to help in the kitchen.  Not sure of what we will call them, but they were a hit!  Gone within 10 minutes.......I obviously did not make enough.
I will call them Sweet Flour Tortillas.  I took 4 flour tortillas(we only buy La Banderita....look for the Mexican flag, they are by far the best store bought flour tortillas!)and used my pizza cutter to cut into triangles.  Melted butter and let the boys paint the triangles.

Next they added sugar and cinnamon.  I baked them at 350 for about 15-20 minutes.  YUMMY!
I am sure this will be a new staple in our house.  Especially for those nights I have nothing else to offer for dessert. I also think these would be good with a sweet salsa..........I think I hear a peach salsa calling my name.  I didn't get a picture of the finished triangles because they were gone before I remembered, but I think you get the picture.  Next time we will step it up a bit and drizzle chocolate over them right out of the oven. We just can't do dessert simple.  Good thing these sweet triangles are so EASY!!

It's nothing like Barbie

Boys playing with their "dolls" is nothing like girls playing with Barbie.

Boy dolls AKA GI Joe, Policemen, Army guys, Batman, scary castle men and the list goes on and on.
I never remember playing with Barbie and Skipper like the boys play with their dolls.
I never remember Ken talking mean and killing people.  My Barbie, Skipper and Ken went on trips in their airplane and ship.  They had pleasant trips full of fun times.  They had bikes to ride and a pink corvette to go gallivanting around town in.  And when they were home they had a THREE story house with an elevator!!!  And a swimming pool in the back yard.  Countless outfit changes.  And talk about the shoes!!!!  A girl's dream!
Such was the life.
Now I am surrounding by shootings, car crashes, jumping from tall buildings and castles.  Mean, rough talk and guys being killed often.  Airplanes and helicopters crashing.  Batman is no longer good either.
How do little boys just have this in them?  OK maybe I should ask.......do all little boys have this in them?  Are they just born with this type of nature?
Or is it just our boys?
Even this morning in the grocery store I was being protected by the boys as they had their guns to hunt and kill the bad guys in the store.  Running down the aisles and shooting anyone that made a move.  As soon as someone noticed them though they were right by my side and super shy.
It is non stop and nothing like playing with Barbie dolls.
